I am a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist in the state of North Carolina. In 2012 I completed a 650 hour program at the Body Therapy Institute, including in-depth study of anatomy and physiology, pathology, ethics and laws, somatic psychology and hands-on techniques in Swedish and Myofascial Massage.
Since graduating from the Body Therapy Institute I have completed over 200 hours of continuing education in Myofascial Therapy and Somatic Education. In 2014 I began a 3-year training in Somatic Experiencing, a modality that restores the body's capacity to resolve traumatic experiences and regulate stress. In 2016 I completed a 100 hour training complementary to the Somatic Experiencing training called BASE (Bodywork and Somatic Education) with teacher Dave Berger.
I grew up in Fairview, a rural area near Asheville NC. In 2008, I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Spanish and Political Science. For the next three years I worked with local and national organizations to improve access to fresh, healthy food. During this time I also had a variety of part-time jobs including farming, surveying, landscaping and music. At the age of 23 I began to find self-healing through massage therapy, yoga and mindfulness practices. From 2012 to 2016 I served as a teaching assistant at The Body Therapy Institute in Siler City, NC. In 2017 I began working part-time at a Waldorf preschool in the area.
